Play Math Rush: a free speed math game online
Math Rush is a quick fire arithmetic game you can play right here in your browser. A sum appears at the top of the screen and four possible answers appear below it. Tap the right one before anyone else and the next question pops up straight away. It is simple to learn, tense with friends, and a great way to sharpen your mental math.
You can practise on your own and chase a personal best, or create a private room and race up to three friends on their own devices. Everyone gets exactly the same questions in the same order, so the fastest and most accurate brain wins.
Rules and scoring
Each correct answer is worth 100 points. Each wrong tap takes away 50 points, and your score never goes below zero. A perfect round with no mistakes gives the maximum score, which is 100 points times the number of questions.
In a multiplayer round the player with the most points wins the round. If the top players finish on the same score, nobody takes that round. In a Best of 3 or Best of 5 match the first player to win the majority of rounds wins the match. If nobody reaches that number, the player with the most round wins after the last round comes out on top.
How to play
- Type your name, then choose Play solo, Create a room or Join a room.
- Pick a difficulty, the number of questions (10, 15, 20 or 30) and a time limit (none, 30 seconds, 60 seconds, 90 seconds or 2 minutes).
- After a short 3, 2, 1 countdown the first equation appears. Work it out in your head and tap the matching answer.
- A correct tap moves you to the next question. A wrong tap greys out that choice so you can try again.
- The round ends when you solve every question or the clock runs out.

Solo practice
Play on your own against the clock. Your best score is saved in your browser for every combination of difficulty, question count and time limit, so you always have a fair target to beat.
Multiplayer with friends
Create a room and share the code. Friends can join from a phone, tablet or computer, and you see everyone's score update live while you play. The host chooses the room size (2 to 4 players), the difficulty, the number of questions, the time limit and the match format: a single round, Best of 3 or Best of 5. When the match ends the host can start a rematch with the same group in one tap.
Tips and strategy
- Accuracy beats panic. One wrong tap costs half a correct answer, so take a split second to be sure before you tap.
- Use the last digit. For addition and multiplication, work out the final digit first. It often rules out two or three choices instantly.
- Estimate first. Round the numbers to get a rough size, then pick the choice that fits. The wrong answers are usually close, but not identical in size.
- Learn your tables. On Medium and Hard, knowing the times tables by heart is the biggest speed boost, and it makes division easy too.

Easy uses addition and subtraction with numbers up to 20. Medium adds the times tables from 2 to 10. Hard uses bigger numbers and adds division, with every division question giving a whole number answer.
