How to Play
Type your name, pick Classic solo, choose a speed and press Play. The snake waits until you choose a first direction. On a keyboard use the arrow keys or W, A, S and D, and press Space or P to pause. On a phone or tablet swipe across the board or tap the arrow buttons under it. The snake keeps moving on its own, so you only decide when to turn. It can turn left or right, but it can never reverse straight back into itself.
Rules and Scoring
The solo board is a 16 by 16 grid. Each apple you eat is worth one point and makes your snake one segment longer. After every apple the snake also speeds up a little, until it reaches the top speed for your difficulty. Easy starts slow and stays forgiving, Medium is the classic pace, and Hard starts fast and gets quicker sooner. The run ends when the head of the snake hits a wall or any part of its own body. Moving into the square your tail is just leaving is safe, because the tail moves away on the same step. Best scores are kept separately for each difficulty.
Tips and Strategy
- Stay near the edges early on and keep the middle of the board open for later, when your snake is long.
- Move in long, tidy lines instead of zig zagging. A neat snake leaves big empty areas to escape into.
- Before you grab an apple, look at where you will go next. Many runs end one move after a greedy bite.
- When the snake gets very long, follow your own tail around the board. The tail always leaves a safe path behind it.
- On a phone, short quick swipes work better than long slow ones. You can also chain two turns in one swipe.

What happens if both snakes crash at the same time?
If both snakes crash on the same move, for example by driving head first into each other, the round is a draw and nobody gets a point. If a match ends with equal wins, the match is a draw too.

2 Player Snake: Challenge a Friend
Want a real opponent? The 2 player snake game turns Snake into a head to head Tron style duel. Press Create room, share the six letter code, and your friend joins from their own device. Both snakes start on a 20 by 20 board and leave a solid trail behind them, so the space slowly fills up. There are no apples here. You win the round by being the last snake still moving. If both snakes crash on the same move, the round is a draw. The host chooses the speed (Chill, Normal or Fast) and the match format (a single round, best of 3 or best of 5), and can start a rematch when the match is over.
