Plain English answers on what data our free games use, which services we rely on, how ads and cookies work, and the choices you have.

Last updated:

The short version

You can play every game on OnlineGames2Play.com without an account, an email address or a password. Your scores and settings stay in your own browser. We only receive personal information when you choose to contact us. Like most free websites, we may show ads from Google, and Google and its partners may use cookies to do that. You can control those cookies at any time.

The rest of this page explains each point in detail, including the services we rely on and the choices you have.

Who we are

OnlineGames2Play.com (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a free website of browser games that you can play alone or with friends. This privacy policy applies to the website at onlinegames2play.com and every page and game on it. We are responsible for the personal information described here. You can reach us at info@onlinegames2play.com or through our contact page.

Information we collect

We try to collect as little as possible. Here is everything that can be processed when you use the site.

WhatWhenWhere it goes
Player name you typeWhen you play a multiplayer gameShown to the other players in your room. It is also saved in your own browser so you do not have to type it again. We do not keep it on our server.
Scores, streaks and settingsWhile you playSaved only in your browser’s local storage on your own device.
Name, email, message and attachmentsOnly if you send the contact formDelivered to our inbox by email so we can reply.
Game ratingOnly if you rate a gameThe star rating is stored on our server together with a one way scrambled code (a hash) made from your IP address, so each person can vote once. The raw IP address is not stored.
Technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited and time of visitEvery visitRecorded in standard server logs by our web host, and received by the third party services listed below. If ads are shown, also processed by Google and its partners.

We do not ask for, and do not want, sensitive information such as health details, payment details or government ID numbers. Please do not include them in messages or attachments.

Data saved on your device

Our games use your browser’s local storage to remember things like your best reaction time, daily puzzle streak, sound on or off and the name you last used. This information stays on your device and is not sent to us. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for onlinegames2play.com. Doing so resets your saved scores and settings.

Multiplayer games

When you create or join a room, the game connects your browser directly to the other players’ browsers using a technology called WebRTC, so that moves arrive in real time. To make that connection:

  • A connection service called PeerJS briefly passes connection details between players so that browsers can find each other. It receives your IP address and a temporary room ID.
  • Google STUN servers help each browser discover its public network address.
  • When a direct connection is not possible, traffic may be relayed through a TURN relay service operated by Metered. Relayed game data passes through their servers but is not stored by us.
  • Because players connect directly, other players in your room may be able to see your IP address, as with most real time online games. Only share room codes with people you trust.

Everything sent in a room, such as your player name, moves, drawings and guesses, is shared with the other players in that room for the length of the game. We do not record or store game sessions on our server.

The contact form

If you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address, topic, message and any files you attach. The form sends this to our inbox by email. To stop spam, the form keeps a short lived record of how many messages were sent from a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address. This record is not linked to your name or message and is cleared after about an hour. We use what you send only to answer you and to fix the problem you reported.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. Our games themselves do not need cookies; they use local storage as described above. Cookies may be set by:

  • Advertising partners, including Google, when ads are shown (see the next section).
  • Google Analytics, to count visits and understand which pages and games are used (see Services we use).
  • Our consent tool, if you are in a region where we ask for your consent, to remember the choice you made.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Most browsers also let you block third party cookies only. Blocking cookies will not stop our games from working.

Advertising and Google

To keep the site free, we may show ads served by Google AdSense and its advertising partners. We place ads around our content, never on top of a game you are playing.

  • Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info, or in Europe www.youronlinechoices.eu.
  • If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalised to you.

You can learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Google may also show non personalised or limited ads, which use cookies only for things like frequency capping, aggregated reporting and fighting fraud.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a Google certified consent message before any personalised ads are shown. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the privacy and cookie settings link shown on the site.

Other services we use

Our pages load a few files from trusted outside services. When your browser loads them, those services receive your IP address and basic browser information, as any website does. Each has its own privacy policy.

Google FontsLoads the fonts used across the site.
unpkg and jsDelivrDeliver open source code libraries used by the games, such as PeerJS and three.js.
PeerJSHelps players’ browsers find each other for multiplayer rooms.
Google STUN and Metered TURNHelp multiplayer connections work across different networks.
Google AnalyticsCounts visits and shows us which games and pages people use, so we can improve the site.
Google AdSenseShows ads that keep the site free, when ads are enabled.
Our web hosting providerStores the website files and keeps standard server logs for security and reliability.

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, for example which games are played most, how long pages are viewed, the type of device and browser, and the approximate country or city a visit comes from. Google Analytics sets cookies such as _ga and receives your IP address, which Google uses to estimate location; it does not tell us who you are. We do not send names, emails or any other personal details to Google Analytics. Data is kept for the period set in our Google Analytics account and then deleted.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent before analytics cookies are used. Everyone can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt out browser add on, or by blocking cookies in the browser. You can read how Google handles this data at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers above, or where the law requires it.

How we use information

  • To run the games and connect players in multiplayer rooms.
  • To reply to messages, bug reports and game suggestions.
  • To show game ratings and stop rating abuse.
  • To keep the site secure, prevent spam and fix technical problems.
  • To show ads that pay for the site, subject to the choices described above.
  • To meet legal obligations.

How long we keep data

  • Contact messages: kept only as long as needed to answer you and follow up, then deleted. We aim to delete them within 24 months.
  • Spam protection records: about one hour.
  • Rating records: kept while the rating feature is active. They contain only a scrambled code, not your IP address.
  • Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a limited period for security, usually no more than a few months.
  • Local storage: stays on your device until you clear it.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw consent. To use any of these rights, email info@onlinegames2play.com. We will reply within one month. If you are in the UK or EEA and unhappy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority, such as the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK.

US state privacy rights

If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing” for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. Showing personalised ads through Google may count as “sharing” under some state laws. You can opt out through Google Ads Settings, by turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser, or by contacting us. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.

Children

OnlineGames2Play.com is a general audience website made for players of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). Our games do not ask for any personal details to play. Children under 13 should not use the contact form and should play multiplayer games with a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The whole site is served over HTTPS. The contact form checks attachments, limits file types and sizes, and blocks automated spam. No method of sending data over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you send us.

International transfers

The services we use, including Google, may process data in countries other than your own, such as the United States. Where required, these providers use legal safeguards such as standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change, for example when we add a new service. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed. If a change is important, we will also mention it on the site.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to play?

No. Every game on OnlineGames2Play.com works without an account, an email address or a password. In multiplayer games you only type a name to show to your friends.

Where are my scores saved?

Scores, streaks and settings are saved in your own browser’s local storage. They are not sent to us. Clearing your browser data for the site removes them.

Does OnlineGames2Play use cookies?

The games do not need cookies. Google Analytics sets cookies to count visits, Google and other advertising partners may set cookies when ads are shown, and our consent tool may set a cookie to remember your choice. You can opt out of personalised ads in Google Ads Settings.

Can other players see my information?

Other players in your room see the name you type and your moves. Because multiplayer games connect browsers directly, they may also be able to see your IP address, so only share room codes with people you trust.
