1. Clear every consonant before touching a vowel

Once every consonant in the puzzle has been correctly guessed, Fivefold tells you the remaining vowels are free, they stop costing lives entirely. That means the ideal run guesses zero vowels until the board leaves you no other choice.

2. Use the shared theme to your advantage

All five words in a Fivefold puzzle relate to one hidden theme. If you reveal enough letters in one word to guess it outright, you can often guess consonants from that word's spelling before they've even been confirmed elsewhere on the board.

3. Guess common consonants first

Letters like S, R, T, and N appear in more English words than rarer ones like Q or Z. Starting with high-frequency consonants reveals more of the board per guess, which gives you more context for the theme sooner.

4. Track your remaining lives against remaining vowels

If you're down to two lives and you can already see three unrevealed vowel slots, it's worth pausing to guess the theme itself before you guess blind. A correct read on the theme can tell you exactly which vowels are worth the risk.
